My 11 month old daughter has an ingrown toenail that I’m pretty sure is infected now my husband noticed tonight when clipping her nails. I’m always careful to cut her nails straight across to prevent this and it still has happened somehow. Should I take her to the doctor? Or does anyone have experience with this and can recommend home treatment? I feel like I should take her in tomorrow because the office is closed right now but I want to take her in to see if they can do something to fix it or atleast take her pain away. The only thing I can give her is tylenol and motrin anyone else ever dealt with this?

I would say just leave it alone and take her to the doctor. If it’s infected, then you definately don’t want to mess with it and make the infection worse. If it isn’t infected and you start picking at it, etc. it will become infected. Just take her to the doctor and let them remove it.
My little boy had this when he was an infant. He also had heart complications so we had an at home nurse that came in daily, she recommended that you soak the foot in epson salt, then in perioxide, and trim it back as far as you can stand. We did it and it worked, in a matter of 1 day his toe was looking better, and he was feeling better. NO SHOES for awhile

and you may want them to look at it first before you cut it
if she acts like shes in pain from it then you could give her some tylenol for now
You can use either tylenol or motrin, what ever she responds best to. I would soak the foot in water water (and sometimes salts help) to make the nail soft and plyable. Then gentally pry up the nail just a bit. This may have to be repeated a few times or cut the first time, but it will relieve that pressure on the skin around the nail. If she is too figity to be able to do this then take her to a pediatrician and do it that way.
Tylenol or Motrin is a good place to start. I would take her to the doctor in the am, because at the very least, she needs antibiotics to treat the infection. She might need to see a podiatrist.
